Everett, MA - Working Fire. 5 Plumer Street, 11-25-06 : Firefighters from Everett, MA responded to a working fire at 5 Plummer Ave around 9:15 AM. The fire was in the rear portion of a 2 1/2 wood frame house, and appeared to have started in the first floor kitchen. All of the on duty force responded to the scene, and the fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes. No serious injuries were reported. Everett fire investigators were on scene to determine the cause.

Danvers, MA  - General Alarm, 128 Water Street, 11-22-06 : Firefighters from numerous communities in Northern MA responded to 128 Water Street in Danvers. The explosion occurred shortly before 3 am, and was felt for miles around. The building of origin was immediately fully involved. Multiple other buildings were damaged or destroyed. A Hazmat was response was also brought to the scene due to chemical runoff.

Somerville, MA - 6th Alarm, 82 Broadway, 11-4-06 : On November 4, 2006 firefighters from Somerville and many surrounding cities battled a stubborn 6 alarm fire in a 1 story building. Shortly before 7PM Box 117 was struck for a report of a building fire at 82 Broadway. C-2 was first to arrive and immediately ordered a 2nd alarm to be struck. Companies encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions in the building. At one point, exposure 3 was severely threatened. The fire took nearly 4 hours to control.

Wakefield, MA - 4th Alarm, 7 Shumway Circle, 8-24-06 : Firefighters responded to 7 Shumway Circle for a fire around 5:00 AM. Companies made an aggressive interior attack before evacuating the building due to deteriorating conditions. Master streams were used to control the fire before companies re entered the building. The fire was placed under control around 8 AM.

Somerville, MA - 3rd Alarm, 47 Houghton Street, 7-18-06 : Around 1:00 AM Somerville Box 24 was pulled. Shortly after that Police reported a fire at the corner of Houghton and Springfield Streets. The box was struck bringing a full assignment. The fire alarm office received multiple calls for the fire reporting occupants trapped. A second alarm was struck on the arrival of the companies followed by a third alarm a few minutes later. The fire was placed under control around 2:00.

Revere, MA - Tanker Rollover, Broadway Circle, 7-17-06 : Around 7:00 PM Multiple calls were received for a tanker rollover at Broadway Circle. A box assignment was sent, and it was quickly determined that a large amount of product was leaking. Two alarms worth of fire apparatus responded along with many hazmat and tow units. The truck was carrying 9800 gallons of gasoline, much of which spilled into the street. The truck was righted around 12:30 AM and crews remained on scene throughout the night.

Chelsea, MA - 4th Alarm, 450 Eastern Ave, 7-14-06 : Around 4:00 PM Chelsea Fire Department began receiving multiple phone calls for a fire in the area of 450 Eastern Ave. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke showing. Working fire and second alarm assignments were quickly struck. Eventually four alarms plus several special calls were needed to control the fire. The weather also played a role in the incident. Temperatures were in excess of 90 degrees. Several rehab stations were set up on the fireground. Crews remained on scene for over four hours, the cause of the fire is unknown at the time of this article.

Foxborough, MA - 3rd Alarm, Former State Hospital, 7-14-06 : Around 12:30 PM The Foxborough Fire Department received several phone calls reporting a fire at the former Foxborough State Hospital on Chestnut Street. The former hospital is in the process of being demolished, and construction crews were on scene. Three alarms were needed to control the fire. The heat hampered the firefighters and rehab areas were set up. Flying brands started a fire in an adjacent section of the hospital and was controlled by mutual aide crews.

Boston, MA - Boat Fire, Mystic Marina, 7-9-06 : Firefighters responded to a report of boat fire at the Mystic Marina in the Charlestown section of the city. Engine 50 was first due and reported a boat fully involved in the channel between the Mystic Marina and the Charlestown Navy Yard. Marine Unit 2 arrived on scene and knocked down the heavy fire before pushing the boat to the docks. The remaining fire was knocked down using handlines and foam. Three engines, two ladders, a rescue, a fireboat and several other units responded to the incident.

Boston, MA - 3rd Alarm, 11 Montfern Ave, 4-9-06 : At 3:57 PM the Boston Fire Alarm office began receiving calls for 11 Montfern Ave in the Brighton section of the city. Box 5454 was transmitted, and the first company to arrive, Engine 51 immediately ordered a working fire. The second alarm was struck 6 minutes later, and the third alarm was struck 28 minutes after that. The fire was placed under control by 5:00, and a fire watch detail remained on scene for the rest of the evening. The fire was caused by careless disposal of cigarettes.

Revere, MA - 4th Alarm, 495 Revere Beach Blvd, 3-31-06 : Early in the morning of March 31, Revere Fire Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire at 495 Revere Beach Boulevard. This building is a multi-occupancy condominium complex, and most of the residents were still sleeping. The first companies to arrive on the box had fire and smoke showing, with reports of victims trapped. A second alarm was immediately ordered, followed by third and fourth alarms on the arrival of the chief of department. Ladders 1 and 2 raised their aerials to the balconies, and between both aerials approximately 10 victims were rescued. One victim was unconscious and transported to Mass General Hospital by Cataldo Ambulance. Most of the other victims were also transported by Cataldo, with various degrees of injury. The fire took about two hours to control.

Peabody, MA - 3rd Alarm, 4 Cottage Street, 1-15-06 : Around 7:15 PM Peabody firefighters responded to a fire at 4 Cottage Street. Companies reported heavy fire conditions on all floors of a 2.5 story woodframe house. Second and Third Alarms were struck, and all companies were ordered out of the building. An additional engine and ladder were called to the fire above the third alarm. High winds contributed to the intensity of the fire, and brands severely threatened exposure 2. The windchill factor was below zero, and firefighters battling the fire became covered in ice. The fire was placed under control around 10:30. The volunteer District 5 Rehab Unit also responded to the scene, and provided much needed services for the ice covered firefighters. In addition the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit was special called to the scene.
