Winthrop, MA - Working Fire, 952 Shirley Street, 12-19-08 : Winthrop Fire Department with mutual aide from Massport fought this working house fire on 12-19-08. The initial call came in just before 8:30 PM. A large snowstorm was occurring in the area, and the wind and snow made conditions very difficult. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to the building of origin. The fire was caused by a faulty heater.

Revere, MA - Working Fire, 27 Flint Street, 11-27-08 : Revere Fire Department responded to this Thanksgiving Day house fire on the Oak Island section of the city. The fire was quickly knocked down, and believed to have been caused by a dog that activated the stove. The dog perished in the fire. Nobody was home at the time of the alarm.

Lynn, MA - 2nd Alarm, 43 School Street, 11-6-08 : Lynn Fire Department responded to this late night house fire. The initial call came from a passerby on a cell phone reporting a building fire on Silsbee Street. Lynn Police arrived on scene first and reported a house on fire off Smith Street. The address was later corrected to 43 School Street. Due to deteriorating conditions firefighters were pulled from the building and went into a defensive attack until the heavy fire was knocked down and crews could reenter.

The building was a former school that had been converted to condos. The fire took several hours to extinguish, and heavily damaged the building.

Winthrop, MA - Truck Fire, 1 Shore Drive, 10-8-08 : Winthrop Fire Department was dispatched to 1 Shore Drive for a report of a vehicle fire next to the house. First arriving companies were met with a fully involved pickup truck. The fire was quickly knocked down before it extended to the house, which was only a few feet away from the vehicle.

Chelsea, MA - 2nd Alarm, 117 Library Street, 9-2-08 : Chelsea Fire Alarm struck Box 332 for a fire at 117 Library Street around 8:50 AM. First arriving companies had smoke showing from the second floor, and a working fire was quickly transmitted. The fire extended from floor 2 to floor 3 and through the roof in the 2/3 corner of the building. A second alarm was transmitted bringing mutual aide companies to the fire. The fire was under control within an hour.

Winthrop, MA - Water Search, Broad Sound, 8-31-08 : Winthrop Police received a call around 1pm that reported a person on a raft in distress off of Nahant Ave. Winthrop Police and Fire units quickly responded and located the raft with binoculars. Winthrop Harbormaster units were also deployed, and Harbor unit 1 recovered the raft. Witnesses reported to have seen someone hanging from the raft before the raft itself was recovered. A full out search was implemented to look for the missing person. Boats from the Mass State Police, Mass Environmental Police, US Coast Guard, and Nahant Harbormaster assisted the Winthrop boats. The Mass State Police and US Coast Guard also sent helicopters. The search was suspended around 6pm with no traces of a person found.

Revere, MA - 2nd Alarm, 107 Charger Street, 8-29-08 : Revere Fire responded to this early morning fire at 107 Charger Street. The first call was received for a garage fire near the house. First due companies arrived with fire showing from an attached garage. The house was occupied at the time of the fire; however everyone did make it out safely. Most of the heavy fire was contained to the garage area, and the fire was under control within an hour.

Boston, MA - 7th Alarm, 400 Atlantic Ave, 5-30-08 : James Hook Lobster, a Boston Landmark was destroyed in this early morning seven alarm fire. Flames could be seen coming from the waterfront warehouse as the companies exited the Purchase Street firehouse nearly across the street from the fire location. Part of the building collapsed into the Fort Point Channel. The company began rebuilding soon after the remains of the old building were removed.

Revere, MA - Truck Accident, Ward Street, 5-14-08 : A dump truck tipped over at this construction site in Revere after the driver forgot to release the pin on the tailgate while dumping a load. When the bed lifted off the trailer, and the dirt has nowhere to go, the truck tipped onto its side. Revere fire and police units stood by while G/J towing up righted and removed the truck.

Winthrop, MA - Working Fire, 65 Beacon Street, 5-2-08 : Winthrop Engine 3, Engine 2, and Ladder 1 responded to a report of an attic fire at 65 Beacon Street. Engine 3 was first to arrive and reported smoke showing. A working fire was quickly transmitted. Massport Engine 5 and Chelsea Ladder 2 responded on the working fire. The fire was contained to the attic in the rear of the house and was under control in aprox. 20 minutes.

Saugus, MA - 3rd Alarm,  483 Central Street, 4-24-08 : Saugus firefighters responded to reports of a fire at 483 Central Street at 12:33 pm. S1, Captain Nolan was first to arrive and reported a working fire. He also got reports that occupants were still inside the building. Captain Nolan with the assistance of two off duty firefighters located a handicapped female and moved her to a window where responding firefighters removed her from the building.

Melrose, MA - 4th Alarm, 43 Baxter Street, 2-3-08 : As firefighters in Melrose were sitting down getting ready to watch the Superbowl on February 3rd, calls began coming in for a house fire at 43 Baxter Street. On the arrival of Ladder 1, Captain McCarthy struck a quick second alarm, followed shortly by a third alarm. Companies had heavy fire on floor one of a two and half story wood frame house, extending to floors two and three. Chief O'Brien arrived on scene and assumed command. A fourth alarm was struck for manpower. Extensive mutual aide was utilized to bring the fire under control.
